Critics Consensus

Secret Level's melange of video game shorts can't help but feel like a glorified sizzle reel, but these vignettes pack a mean punch in small doses.

A deeply mixed collection that feels more like a homage than a fresh perspective.

Despite the vastly different titles, its monotonous storytelling will do little to entice hardcore fans or viewers who know little about the various universes.

Many episodes feel like extended trailers rather than fully fleshed-out narratives, leaving the overall experience lacking depth and coherence.

While Secret Level has credible talking points, there is one major issue that really detracts from what should have been a compelling, promising debut.

I just give it a 5 because of Warhammer 40K's chapter. The series have some good chapts and some bads, but Warhammer's is a masterpiece!

Not all episodes are great, because they are individually made by different animation studios, but there are a good number of real incredible shorts here. The Warhammer one is a particular stand-out. This isn't for everyone, but if you are into video games and enjoy animated features, this is worth the time. Yes, the writing could be a bit better, but it's really, really not bad. I recommend.

Perfect. Like everyone else, we only wish there was more, and that they were longer. I appreciate that the shorter form factor moves the story along efficiently. Lots of movies are packed with fluff that ultimately makes the movie worse.
